Superintendent's
Corner Archives December 21, 2005
Dear Students, Families and Staff:
The holiday season is in full swing. We have had our first snowfalls (already used our three snow days), gorged ourselves at the Thanksgiving table and
now face shopping deadlines. Amid the hustle and bustle this time of year we can easily forget so much that we can be thankful about. I feel privileged to serve as your superintendent and am grateful for the many
advantages of working at DCS.
- I am thankful for the good-natured and friendly student body. Thank you for inviting me to participate in the
Canterbury Tales!
- The newly
constructed elementary school library and new wing are
beautiful. I am thankful for the public support, patience of
the faculty and staff during construction and (unlike many
building projects) the great cooperation and competence of the
General Contractor Bast-Hatfield; the primaries – Clune
Electrical, TMI, HA2F & Merit Plumbing. Kudos also to
Marty Williams, clerk of the works, and to CWG Architects.
- We are holding an open house January 22 at 2 PM to showcase our new space. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
- The fall
sports program was one of our best! Congratulations to four of
our five varsity teams who qualified for the scholar-athlete
team award: Boys’ and girls’ cross country, girls’
soccer and girls’ volleyball.
- We are fortunate that we receive such parental support
for all our programs. I cannot think of any instance where help was asked for by the district and not provided by parents.
- I am especially thankful for the get-well wishes and support during my recent illness! I feel fully recovered and ready for the 25 family members who will sit at our Christmas dinner table!
Have a happy holiday and a Merry Christmas!
Sincerely,
Mark
Villanti, Ed.D.
