September 24, 2007 – Schenectady
County residents are invited to begin attended the Duanesburg Family
Room on Thursdays from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Duanesburg Elementary
School. Afternoon and evening events may be scheduled on occasion
throughout the school year. Monthly schedules will be posted online.
The child-friendly room opened in November 2006 to provide preschool
parents, caregivers and young children with a place to meet
informally, play and participate in activities and workshops that
strengthen parenting skills.
Attendees will explore how to "Help
your child work smarter —not harder" during the next session on
Thursday, September 27.
“We are so happy to be able to offer this program again this year,”
said Interim Superintendent Lew DeFilippo. “This is a tremendous
benefit to young parents living in Duanesburg and surrounding areas
in Schenectady County.”
The program is free and open to all Schenectady County residents. No
appointments are necessary—simply drop by the elementary school,
sign-in at the main office and ask school personnel to direct you to
the Family Room. Visitors are invited to stay for all of part of the
session.
The Family Room is a partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension,
Schenectady County and the Duanesburg Central School District.
Funding is provided by the Schenectady County Youth Bureau.
