March 5, 2008 – Family, friends and neighbors are invited to celebrate Duanesburg’s past, present and future during the fifth annual Duanesburg Day on Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the middle/high school. Sponsored by the Duanesburg Historical Society, the New York Folklore Society, the Duanesburg Area Community Center and the Duanesburg Central School District, the event offers fun, educational activities, delicious food and entertainment for the entire community.

Vendors: Please return your registration form as soon as possible and no later than March 21. Space is limited.

Student projects, food, entertainment and more
The day-long celebration will feature student exhibits including an art show, historical projects, a paper “freedom quilt” and much more. In addition, local artisans, businesses and non-profit organizations of all kinds will host informational booths throughout the day. Bring your appetite and enjoy homemade foods for breakfast and lunch while listening to a three-piece band sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Student Organization (PTSO).

Duanesburg's history
If you're interested in learning more about Duanesburg's history, take one (or both) of the guided bus tours to historical landmarks—Quaker Street and the Episcopal Church. Sign-up at the welcome table on the day of the event. Both buses will depart from the middle/high school.

A growing community
Community members are invited to tour the recently finished Duanesburg Area Community Center (DACC) on Victoria Drive. Shuttles will be available throughout the day. The DACC will also sponsor a Chopper Hopper for children.

Fundraisers to benefit Lees family, Leo Club
The PTSO is sponsoring a mystery raffle, silent auction and gently-used prom, semi-formal and concert dress/accessories sale to benefit their Community Assistance Fund, which supports local families in crisis. All proceeds will benefit the Lees family to help them during this difficult time.

Members of the community who are willing to make a donation or volunteer are encouraged to contact Hank Dunn at 895-2742. Current donations include gift certificates from local businesses, gift baskets, antiques and collectibles.

The middle/high school's 30-member Leo Club, will hold a cotton candy fundraiser to support their charitable activities next year (e.g., Adopt-A-Family, Toys for Tots).

In the event of inclement weather, Duanesburg Day will be rescheduled to Sunday, March 30, from 12 to 5 p.m.

For more information including a complete schedule of events, visit the Duanesburg Day section of the district Web site.
