Sept. 28, 2009—Duanesburg beat Sharon Springs 2-1 in a hard fought varsity soccer game on Monday, Sept. 21.

Sharon Springs jumped into the lead with a goal in the first ten minutes of the game. But Eagle pride kicked in and Duanesburg quickly took control of the game. Early in the second half, Alex Tumbarello and Dani Hennel worked their way up the sideline before Hennel finished the play with an amazing shot from the outside—making the score 1-1.

The goal hardened the team's resolve to finish the comeback. About 20 minutes later, Hennel moved the ball up the sideline and chipped it into the middle of the field. From there, Ashlyn McGarry took the ball out of the air and shot it into the back of the net with skill and grace.

Now up 2-1, the defense led by Lauren Boyd and goalie Sam Tomeck thwarted the opposing team's every opportunity to score from then on out. Tomeck had another great game with 17 spectacular saves.

The girl’s next home game is on Monday, Sept. 28, vs. Berne-Knox-Westerlo. Come show your support and cheer on the Lady Eagles!
