Oct. 13, 2009—Duanesburg students and staff are joining the fight against breast cancer, one pink hair extension at a time.

On Thursday, Oct. 15, middle/high school students and staff can participate in a new and exciting fundraising program, Pink Hair for Hope.

With a $5 donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, individuals can receive a free pink hair extension. The extensions will last approximately three to six weeks unless there is a desire to take them out earlier.

Jodi Polsin, a local hair stylist from Echo Salon, is donating her time during lunch periods. She will place the hair extensions using glue and an iron.

“It’s a quick and easy process that will take approximately five minutes per student,” said middle/high school health teacher Maureen Moffett, who helped organize the event.

In order to participate, students must return a permission slip signed by their parent or guardian along with the donation by Tuesday, Oct. 13.

For more information, contact Maureen Moffett at mmoffett@duanesburg.org or 895-5350, ext. 449.

Pink ribbons will also be on sale throughout the day on the 15th for $1, and students will also be encouraged to wear pink clothing.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Join the Duanesburg Teachers Association as they make strides against breast cancer. The association has formed a team to participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 12 p.m. in Washington Park, Albany.

Duanesburg friends are encouraged to show their support by fundraising or walking along with the team. Donations may also be made online.
