A representative from SUNY Albany visits with Duanesburg seniors
A representative from SUNY Albany discusses the college with a group of Duanesburg High School seniors.
Oct. 9, 2009 – Choosing a college or university is one of the most important decisions a young adult will have to make. There are hundreds of options to choose from in New York state alone.

Fortunately, the more students know about the variety of educational institutions available, the greater the chance they’ll be happy with their final decision. To that end, college admission representatives visit Duanesburg High School throughout the school year.

These small-group meetings are especially helpful for students who are unable to visit colleges at a distance from Duanesburg as well as those who are seeking general information and answers to specific questions and concerns from colleges they are considering for admission. Discussion topics range from admission requirements, to student life, to study abroad opportunities and student activities. Students can also practice their interviewing skills and compare and contrast potential schools.

This is also a great opportunity for the representative to get to know students. The college representatives are often the admissions staff who read and evaluate applications, so it's helpful for them to be able to associate a person with the application.

Upcoming visits are included during the morning announcements, and can also be obtained from the guidance office. Seniors are encouraged to attend by signing-up with their homeroom teacher and obtaining a permission slip from the guidance office.
