Oct. 19, 2009
– To celebrate New York State’s annual School Board
Recognition Week, Oct. 19-23, students, staff and community
members are invited to enjoy refreshments provided by the
PTSO during the board's Oct. 20 meeting.
Residents are
encouraged to attend the meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the
Duanesburg High School library.
This special week is designated by Governor David Paterson
to commend school board members for their dedicated service
to the children of New York State.
Duanesburg's seven-member board consists of President Carlos
Moreno, Vice-President Bridget Holmes, Paul Munson III,
Christina Loukides, Cecilia Tkaczyk, John McKeeby and
Henry "Gus" Geidel.
Board members
are elected by the community to serve three-year terms
without pay. They generously volunteer their time and energy
to improve the education offered to students in the district
while also balancing the cost to taxpayers.
The meeting
will also feature a special visit from students enrolled in
the high school's new "Life in the ER" course taught by
health teacher Maureen Moffett. Come hear directly from the
students about this interactive course.
