July 11, 2007 - The search for a
new superintendent to replace Dr. Mark Villanti, who resigned in
late-June to become superintendent of the Haldane Central School
District in Cold Spring, New York, is well underway.
With the help of Chief Operating
Officer Dr. Gerald Carozza of the Capital Region BOCES, who
helped collect resumes, solicit staff, parent and community
feedback on qualities sought in a new superintendent and screen
potential candidates, the Board of Education is ready to
interview finalists for the superintendency with the help of
three committees made up of parents/community members, staff and
administrators.
The groups of volunteers will
attend an orientation on Friday, July 20, at 10 a.m. in the
elementary school library and interview three candidates on July 25
and 26. Committee members will make their recommendations to the
Board of Education during a Special Executive Session on
Tuesday, July 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the HS Library.
The Board of Education
expects to appoint the new superintendent in September.
Currently, former Duanesburg
superintendent and longtime business official, Lewis DeFillipo,
is serving as interim superintendent.
Visit the
superintendent search section for more information on the
search process.
