Lewis
DeFilippo has been named interim superintendent.
|
May
30, 2007 - A longtime Duanesburg Central School District
administrator will return to the district this summer to serve
as interim superintendent.
Lewis DeFilippo was appointed to the position, effective July 1,
2007-August 31, 2007 during the Board of Education's meeting on
May 1.
DeFilippo replaces Dr. Mark Villanti, who announced his
resignation in March after serving as superintendent for six
years. He will join the Haldane Central School District in Cold
Spring, New York as superintendent.
DeFilippo served as the district’s business administrator from 1982 to
1991 and then as superintendent until he retired in 2001. He returned to the
district in 2003 to serve as the interim business administrator
until he retired, again, after more than 20 years with the
district in December 2006.
The interim appointment will
enable the district, with the help of Capital Region BOCES, to
perform a thorough search for Villanti's permanent replacement.
The search process is currently underway with applications due
by June 1.
The district expects to name a
new superintendent by the start of the 2007-08 school year.
Visit the
superintendent search section for more information on the
search process.
