May 15, 2007 - Voters in the Duanesburg Central School District approved the district’s $14,003,230 proposed budget for the 2007-08 school year by a margin of 304 yes votes to 205 no votes on Tuesday, May 15.

Voters also approved a $234,621 bus proposition to purchase 4 new school buses with 336 yes votes and 164 no votes.

Incumbent Carlos Moreno (377 votes) and newcomer Cecilia Tkaczyk (402 votes) were elected to two open seats on the Board of Education. Both individuals will serve three-year terms, effective July 1, 2007.

Spending in next year’s budget is up 6.1 percent over the current year budget and carries an estimated tax rate increase of 3.98 percent for property owners.

The district will set its final tax rates for the 2007-08 school year in August, based on final assessment figures, equalization rates for each town as provided by the state Office of Real Property Services.
