May 8, 2007 - Tech Valley High School's first 40 students, their parents and the school's four teachers and principal met for the first time on Saturday, April 28, at Gen*NY*Sis Center for Excellence in Cancer Genomics in Rensselaer.

One of the students in the inaugural class is Duanesburg eighth grader Alyssa Pettit.

The students will begin their freshman year in September at the high school, which will be located in the headquarters of MapInfo Corporation in the Rensselaer Technology Park, in Troy.

"This is a milestone for Tech Valley High School. We welcome our first class of students, who, with their parents, today had a sneak peak at what the next four years will be like," said the TVHS Principal Dan Liebert.

Tech Valley High School is composed of 40 students—20 boys and 20 girls from 35 school districts within the areas served by Questar III BOCES and Capital Region BOCES. The students applied and were selected by a lottery in February.
