Duanesburg Central
School District reduces estimated tax rate increase to 3.98 percent
April 24, 2007 - The Duanesburg
Central School District has reduced its estimated tax rate increase
for the proposed 2007-08 budget after further review of the final
New York State budget, which included more state education aid than
the district originally estimated.
If approved by voters on May 15, the
$14,003,230 proposed budget would increase taxes by 3.98 percent for
property owners. This is 0.91 percent below estimates set when the
Board of Education adopted the proposed budget on April 3. At that
time, district officials had estimated state education aid revenues
based largely upon Gov. Eliot Spitzer's initial budget proposal.
After further review of the final state budget, school officials
learned the district would receive $98,000 more in state aid than
the district had included as revenues.
