Superintendent Dr.
Mark Villanti announces his resignation effective June 30
March 26, 2007 - After six years as
Superintendent of Schools for the Duanesburg Central School
District, Dr. Mark Villanti recently announced that he accepted a
position as superintendent of the Haldane Central School District in
Cold Spring, NY. He will begin the new position in early July.
"This was a very difficult decision because I love serving the
students, staff and community of Duanesburg," said Dr. Villanti. "I
have been conflicted about this decision, but came to the conclusion
that this is in the best interest of my family, career and future
health."
“We are grateful to Dr. Villanti for
his years of service to the district and wish him the very best as
superintendent of the Haldane Central School District,” said Board
of Education President Raymond W. Hawes.
Duanesburg's Board of Education has
already started to receive inquiries concerning the search process
for a new superintendent. While the board is interested in moving
ahead quickly, they also want to attract the best possible
applicants for the position.
The Board of Education has expressed a
desire to follow a similar search process that resulted in Dr.
Villanti's hiring. During the last superintendent search, the board
conducted an "open search" that engaged various
stakeholders-teachers, staff, parents, students, the Board, and
community representatives. The Board is again considering the
assistance of a search consultant, such as the Capital Region BOCES,
that helped conduct the previous search.
Information will be posted on the
district Web site at
http://dcs.neric.org about the search process and how members of
the community may participate.
