Freshman and sophomore
students explore career opportunities
February 28, 2007 - Duanesburg freshman and sophomore
students explored the realities of what it takes to become a
nurse, reporter, realty executive and much more during the
district's first-ever Career Fair on Wednesday, February 28.
"It's never too early to start thinking ahead," said
high school
counselor Alicia Kirkpatrick, who organized the event with the
United Way. "I wanted to give our students an opportunity to
learn, first-hand, from professionals in our
community."
Prior to the fair, students completed a career interest
inventory to narrow down a selection of career fields they would
like to pursue. The
fair provided students with an informal opportunity to further
explore a particular field by asking questions directly to
individuals in a chosen career.
