Students recognized for academic achievement

Ryan J. Coppolo and Sarah E. Gurney have been named "Commended Students" in the 2006 National Merit Scholarship Program. These scholastically-talented seniors will both receive a Letter of Commendation from the school and from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although this means they will not continue in the 2006 competition for Merit Scholarships, Coppolo and Gurney have placed in the Top 5 percent of the more than one million students who entered the competition by taking the 2004 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
