DES
Books for Babies program provides an introduction to reading
The
Duanesburg Elementary School’s Books for Babies program was
established by the Duanesburg Teachers' Association in 1998 as a way
to promote reading at the earliest age.
“Early childhood education begins at home with parents reading
to their children,” said Jean Kwiatkowski, kindergarten teacher.
“This simple step can be an important factor in a child’s
future success in school.”
Along with the children’s book, “Pat the Bunny” the DTA’s
Books for Babies program provides a pamphlet for parents that
includes helpful tips to encourage the reading habit.
Parents
of newborns who live
in the Duanesburg Central School District may register for the Books for Babies
program by calling Jean
Kwiatkowski at 895-8310, ext. 427, or Linda Kelly Armour at
895-8310, ext. 411.
