Residents approve 2006-07 school budget vote
Bus proposition passes; three school board
members re-elected
May 17, 2006 - On
Tuesday May 16, voters in the Duanesburg Central School District gave
the nod to a $13.2 budget proposed for the 2006-07 school year.
The budget passed 332 yes to 282 no votes.
The $156,000 bus proposition to purchase two school buses also
passed by just over 100 votes.
Next year's budget will increase spending by $1,085,062 and will
result in an estimated tax rate increase of 4.89 percent.
Voters re-elected three incumbents, who ran unopposed, to serve
on the school board for three-year terms. "The
district and the Board of Education are thankful for the support
of the voters in approving this budget," said Superintendent
Mark Villanti. "We remain mindful of the balance between
educational quality and cost. We believe the district provides a
quality education to its students and will endeavor to maintain
fiscally responsible budgets."
