Spelling Bee
Each year, Duanesburg
Elementary School students participate in an annual spelling bee.
This year's competition was held on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at 7
p.m.
"It was an excellent spelling bee," said Elementary School Principal Katie O'Brien. "There
was a great battle for first place at the end."
Sixth-grade students Sarah Chappell
and Henry Holmes battled it out for the winning spot. Ultimately,
Sarah Chappell won the competition and received $50 in prize money.
She will go on to represent Duanesburg in the Capital Region
Spelling Bee at Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady on Monday, March
12, 2007.
Runners-up were Henry Holmes in
second place, winning $30 and eighth-grader Amanda Homer in third,
winning $20.
Great job to all the students in
grades 4-8, who participated in this year's competition!
Special thanks to district staff,
volunteers and the PTSO for providing prize money.
