What went wrong with the fire alarms on 5/18?

Response heading

During the morning of Monday, May 18, the fire alarm at the middle/high school went off repeatedly due to a technical glitch. Students evacuating the building according to procedure following the first alarm bells and returned to the building shortly after. Students remained safe and attended classes inside the building as school officials and fire personnel worked to remedy the situation. It has since been resolved.

There is a rumor circulating that 2 needles were found in a middle school hallway recently and picked up by students. Can you please inform me of any details.

Response heading

During school a couple of weeks ago, a middle school student discovered an empty syringe lying on the ground in the school hallway. No needle was attached to the plastic syringe and no contents appeared in the barrel of the syringe.

The student immediately brought the syringe to a teacher, who contacted school administrators. The syringe was then turned over to School Resource Officer Chip Johnstone, who launched an investigation. However, Mr. Johnstone was unable to identify any former substances in the syringe or where it came from. There are several legitimate reasons why a syringe may have be found in school, such as for individuals with diabetic or self-medicating needs, which requires the use of syringes. Despite this, not having it disposed of properly is of concern since the safety of all students is of the upmost importance.

This is the only incident involving a syringe. However, a student found a sewing needle in the hallway about a week following the incident, and disposed of it immediately.

Was there a gun threat to students at the Middle School/High School on Thursday?
