In order to have a senior page in the yearbook students are required to sell $300 in ads. This year's class has 78 kids. Does it really cost $23,400 to print the yearbook? This doesn't include the $45 sales price. This seems excessive.

It actually costs more than the amount mentioned above to produce and print the full-color yearbook. To help offset some of those costs, students with senior pages sell ad space. However, not all seniors opted to have a senior page this year so they are not required to sell ads. To make-up the difference, the yearbook is being sold for $45.

If a student is in two after-school programs at the same time, why does one program take priority over the other?
![]()
Typically, students are not enrolled in two after-school programs. However, students may be allowed to participate in two after-school programs dependent on the activity and level of conflict between the programs. For example, a student may be involved in both athletics and drama club. But once the student reaches the varsity level, they must commit to one program.
Additionally, if a student is involved in a school-based program, such as athletics, and another program that is not school-based, such as swim lessons, the school-based program would take priority.

My son signed up for modified soccer, I completed all the necessary forms and I was told that the coach would be contacting/e-mailing each student prior to starting.... needless to say this did not happen. On the first day of school he was told by a classmate that soccer had already started. Does this happen often?

Unfortunately there has been some confusion and miscommunication about the fall sports season due in part to the transition to a new athletic director. Coaches are encouraged to contact players prior to the season, but they are under no obligation to do so. Modified soccer did not start until the first day of school this year, and students were welcome to join the team after the start of school. All student-athletes and their parents are encouraged to attend the Fall Meet the Coaches Night, which was held in late August to learn more about the upcoming sports season directly from coaches.

Why are fall sports practices run throughout the day prior to school starting? Many parents work and transportation is difficult - practices are after school hours once school is in session - why can't this be done at the start of the season?
![]()
Athletic practices begin early because students are required to participate in a set number of practice sessions before they can be eligible for competition. For example, soccer players must complete ten practice sessions before they may compete in their first game. Competitions cannot be pushed back because it would interfere with the winter sports season, and the schedule cannot be made more compact because of the required rest time in between games. These processes are regulated by the state and leave little room for alterations or interpretation.

Is the price for the middle/high school yearbook really $50? Wasn't it less in previous years? And with the addition of a less-expensive elementary version (which is great), you'd think the price would go down.
![]()
In the past, the K-12 district yearbook was $40
pre-sale and $45 in June. This year, the hard cover, full-color
middle/high school yearbook was $45 pre-sale. After January 2009, the
price went up to $50. The cost went up this year due to increased
shipping and production costs.
The elementary school yearbooks will be printed in black and white with
a soft cover. They are $10 for orders made before May 1, and $15 after.
The goal behind creating two separate yearbooks this year was to make the yearbook more affordable for parents who do not have children in the middle/high school. Additionally, elementary students did not get a lot of coverage in the past, but this year's version should change that.
Feedback will be sought at the end of the year to evaluate the changes.

I was wondering if the 5th grade play was always just the choir students? I had thought it was the whole 5th grade class.
![]()
The fifth-grade play involves students in chorus who volunteered to try out. Not all 5th grade chorus members tried out, but there are about 30 students who are involved with the play and production.

How is it possible that the Board of Education be considering adding Football to the district's sports program when the district is already being forced to make cuts in existing program due to cuts in state aid. Even if the district only picks up the cost of transportation (with fundraising covering other costs) it seems that other less costly items that have been cut (such as field trips and the 4:00 late bus) should be added back into the budget before new programs are considered.

The Board of Education Education Committee met with the Pop Warner Organization upon their request to hear their proposal. No decisions have been made at this time nor will they without community input.
The district will be holding a series of public budget forums in late February to solicit community input about the budget as the district enters what is expected to be the most difficult budget season in recent memory. Learn more.
