Thank you!
Duanesburg voters
approve revised district budget
On Tuesday, June 17,
Duanesburg Central School District residents approved the district’s
$14,821,497 proposed budget for the 2008-09 school year by a margin
of 569 yes votes to 355 no votes. Results were announced shortly
after the polls closed at 9 p.m.
“We are extremely grateful for the community’s support of
the revised budget,” said Superintendent Christine Crowley. “We are
looking forward to moving ahead next year.”
The Board of Education adopted the revised budget in May
after voters rejected the district’s original proposal on May 20—the
first budget defeat for the district since 2000.
Spending in next year’s budget is up 5.8 percent over the
current year budget and carries an estimated tax rate increase of
3.20 percent for property owners in the Town of Duanesburg.
The district will set its final tax rates for the 2008-09
school year in August, based on final assessment figures provided by
each town’s assessor and equalization rates, as established by the
state Office of Real Property Services.
