Duanesburg helps nurture tomorrow's leaders
He or she is "a born leader." That's a phase we've all heard or used at one time or another.

But in reality, most leaders are not born into it. Leadership is a quality that is nurtured over time through education, role modeling, and often through athletics.

Learning this firsthand recently was about a dozen Duanesburg student-athletes who were selected to attend the Western Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Leadership Day at SUNY Cobleskill in January. The one-day event was geared for students in grades 7 through 9 as they prepare to move onto the next level in their athletic careers - junior varsity and varsity sports. Read more...

Library collection grows with generous donation

"Dr. Davis has proven to be a valued friend to our school library over the last several years having donated many new items including newly purchased DVDs that support both the English and the social studies departments," said Library Media Specialist Laurel Berbach.

Eighth graders explore rocket science
Middle School Teacher Chris Wyanski helps two students position their rockets for launch

Duanesburg eighth grade students participated in a fun and exciting unit on rocketry involving math, science and technology this fall. After discussing Newton's laws and other aspects of rocketry, students spent four days working with a partner to design and assemble a rocket personalized with a variety of colors and other designs. The unit culminated with a rocket launch on the upper soccer field on a beautiful fall day in October.

Mandatory immunization requirements
for incoming sixth-grade students
Students who are entering sixth grade or a comparable age-level on or after September 1, 2007, and who are 11 years of age or older must receive an immunization containing tetanus toxoids, diphtheria and acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap).

If a student has received a Td, Dt, or DTaP vaccination within the last two years, the student's Tdap vaccination should be deferred (with rare exceptions) until a period of two years has elapsed.

Ten year old students who are entering sixth grade will not be required to receive a Tdap vaccine and will not be excluded from school, but they must be flagged, tracked and immunized when they turn 11 years old.
