Spring College Fair to be
held May 7 at HVCC
Juniors, seniors and their parents are
invited to attend the 2008 Spring College Fair
on Wednesday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to noon and 6
p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Edward F. McDonough
Recreation Center, 80 Vandenburgh Avenue in Troy.
This is a great opportunity to explore a
vast array of colleges. Representatives from
more than 200 colleges will be there, including
public and private, four-year and two-year,
large and small, liberal arts and vocational
colleges. Military branches will also be there.
A number of institutions representing financial
options will also be on-site. Admission is free.

Eagle's Eye staff
visits the Big Apple
Eight
members of Duanesburg High School’s student
newspaper, The Eagle’s Eye, got a
close-up look at journalism produced by their peers
nationwide and learned first-hand from seasoned professionals
during the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s
spring convention at Columbia University in March.

Fifth annual Duanesburg Day is a success
The
entire community came together for another
successful Duanesburg Day celebration on
Saturday, March 29. Inside Duanesburg
Middle/High School, hundreds of families and
community members enjoyed a variety of
activities from perusing craft and antique
vendors to dancing to the "Hearts of Rhythm" and
observing student exhibits focusing on
Duanesburg's history and heritage.

Students express their beliefs about democracy |
The
Duanesburg Republican Club had a hard time
selecting the top three finalists out of 13
entries in their second annual essay contest.
But in the end, Richie Kennedy, Chris Hyrny and
Anny Miner were chosen as this year’s winners.
“They all had a lot to say, so it was really
difficult,” said club president Barbara Watt.
Duanesburg High School juniors were invited to
reflect on their role as American
citizens—discussing concepts they learned as
part of the eleventh-grade course curriculum on
American history and government.

Congratulations to Duanesburg's
wrestlers!
During the New York State
Public High School Athletic Association's wrestling championships on
March 8 and 9, Brian Borst won the the state title for his weight
class in Division II. Wes Coppola placed sixth, while David Larson
and Randy White held their own during the state competition.

Schoharie CTE culinary team places first in state
Duanesburg senior to compete in national competition |
A
team of talented Hospitality Technology & Culinary Arts students
from the Schoharie Career & Technical School, including Duanesburg
senior Kayla Williams, cooked their way to first place during the
New York State Restaurant Association's ProStart Culinary
Competition in early February. This is the second consecutive year
they have won this award. Read
