Peanut and Other Food Allergies
Parents and group leaders of activities held in the elementary school should be advised that there are five students at DES with PEANUT/TREE NUT ALLERGIES. These children are in several different grade levels and classrooms with varying degree of severity.

Please refrain from using peanuts, including peanut butter, in any projects done on school property, and keep peanut products to a minimum, especially if you know your child shares a classroom with one of the children that has allergies.

Peanut allergies can be extremely serious in children, and in some cases deadly.

Allergy to peanuts and tree nuts may be life-long, and can cause reactions ranging from itching or swelling of the lips, tongue, or mouth to life-threatening shortness of breath and a drop in blood pressure.
