Kindergarten Orientation
Kindergarten orientation is held at Duanesburg Elementary School each year in September. This is an opportunity for kindergartners and their parents to become familiar with the school district, layout of the elementary school and with transportation services. Transportation Supervisor Harry Folckemer and Head Bus Driver Peg Venter are available to answer any questions or concerns.

Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration for the 2008-09 school year will be held on Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Duanesburg Elementary School (165 Chadwick Road, Delanson, NY).

To be eligible, children must be 5 years old by December 1, 2008. The following items must be presented during registration: a birth certificate or other legal proof of age, guardianship/custodial documentation, immunization records, and three proofs of residency as outlined in district procedure.

New York State law also requires that children must have the following immunizations, BEFORE they can enter kindergarten: 

• 3 doses of diphtheria;
• 3 doses of polio;
• 3 doses of hepatitis B;
• 2 doses of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella);
• 1 dose varicella (chicken pox) vaccine;
• Dental health certificate, reporting that a comprehensive dental exam has been completed.

The district will mail kindergarten registration information on or about March 14, 2008, to all residents who completed the August 2007 census. If you are new to the school district and have not yet completed a census card, or do not receive a registration packet by March 20, please call the elementary school at 518-895-2580 ext. 0.

Please note: The current kindergarten classes will not be held these two days.

On March 3, 2008, parents/guardians of children with late birthdays (July 1, 2003 - December 1, 2003) will receive an invitation to a “Late Birthday Parent Meeting” scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.
