Bus
Proposition
On May 20, voters approved a $229,494 bus
proposition to purchase three new school buses. The vote was
349 yes votes to 269 no votes.
The new buses will replace
three aging, inefficient buses. A 71-passenger bus will
replace a smaller bus allowing for more flexibility scheduling
the current fleet. The other two buses are comparable trades in
terms of size.
The
district will borrow funds to cover the cost of purchasing three
buses prior to the start of the school year. The first payment
would be due during the 2009-10 school year and would be
financed over a four year period. Approximately, 75 percent of
the cost will be covered by state transportation aid to
reimburse bus purchases, including principal and interest costs.
