REGULAR BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
June 19, 2007

Vision - Duanesburg Central
School District will become a model for smaller school districts
in New York State. Instructional excellence will be the bedrock
of the district characterized by a strong academic core,
technology integration and a challenging and stimulating
curriculum. Our educational program will include enrichment,
interdisciplinary teaching and active roles for students. All
students will be challenged and supported to achieve their
highest abilities. The district will value its students and
staff. The community will value and participate in our mission.
Our facilities will promote our mission.
Goals - The goals of the Board of Education include:
long range instructional, facilities, staff and financial
planning; continue to provide a positive, safe and healthy
school and community environment; review and approve Board
policies that comply with SED requirements; recognize the work
of outstanding students, faculty, staff, administrators and
district volunteers; continued monitoring of the Board of
Education’s internal and external communications; encouragement
of community and parental involvement to foster a spirit of
openness and togetherness and completion of committee goals.

PRESENTATION/APPROVAL OF BOE MINUTES FOR ACTION:
Recommendation that the Duanesburg Board of Education approve
the minutes of the regular meeting of 6/5/07 as submitted.
Motion by Trustee Moreno, seconded by Trustee Munson.
Yes: Hawes, Breitenstein, Holmes, Iseman, Remling, Moreno,
Munson. Motion Carried.
WRITTEN REPORTS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES:

BOE Standing Committee Reports
• Superintendent Search Interviews – Board of Education will
interview 6 to 7 candidates on June 20 & 21 from 5:00 to 8:45
pm/HS Conference Room – Board of Ed. members are asked to arrive
at 4:45 pm to meet with Dr. Carozza prior to the interviews -
Committees will interview finalists on July 25 & 26 – Committees
will make their recommendations to the Board at a Special
Executive Session on July 31
• Employee Relations Committee – Ray, Jim & Dave – set meeting
date for DESA negotiations
• Audit Committee – Ray, Bridget & Carlos – June 29 at 8:30 am
in CO or HS conf room with Auditor Phyllis Albano
• Buildings & Grounds Committee – Jim, Dave & Paul – June 21st @
2:00 pm/Building Project Meeting - Project work will begin on
June 25th.

1. Approve Addition of Benefits to Conditions of Employment.
Recommendation that the Duanesburg Board of Education approve
the addition of Empire Deluxe PPO Benefit to the Administrative
and Administrative Support Personnel Conditions of Employment.
Motion by Trustee Munson, seconded by Trustee Holmes.
Yes: Hawes, Breitenstein, Holmes, Iseman, Remling, Moreno,
Munson. Motion Carried.
2. Claims Auditor’s Comments on June 19, 2007 Warrant
3. Approve Warrants.
Recommendation that the Duanesburg Board of Education approve
the following warrants:
General Fund W#27 $258,852.33
Capital Fund W#16 $173.36
2006-07 Awards Fund W#1 $13,622.41

4. Approve Financial Reports.
Recommendation that the Duanesburg Board of Education approve
the Treasurer’s Report, Appropriation Status Report, Revenue
Budget Status Report and Extra-Curricular Activity Report as
recommended by the business administrator.
Motion by Trustee Iseman, seconded by Trustee Holmes.

the Elementary School and Middle/High School Code of Conduct
with the enclosed MS/HS revisions as recommended by the building
principals.
Motion by Trustee Munson, seconded by Trustee Remling.
Yes: Hawes, Breitenstein, Holmes, Iseman, Remling, Moreno,
Munson. Motion Carried.
2. Approve New Textbooks.
Recommendation that the Duanesburg Board of Education approve
the new Prentice Hall Mathematics textbooks for Grades 6-9 and
McDougal Littel Social Studies textbooks for Grades 9 & 10
textbooks as recommended by the building principals.
Motion by Trustee Holmes, seconded by Trustee Remling.
Yes: Hawes, Breitenstein, Holmes, Iseman, Remling, Moreno,
Munson. Motion Carried.
3. Approve New Graduation Award.
Recommendation that the Duanesburg Board of Education approve
the Eagle Athlete Award as recommended by the business
administrator and building principal.
Motion by Trustee Moreno, seconded by Trustee Holmes.
Yes: Hawes, Breitenstein, Holmes, Iseman, Remling, Moreno,
Munson. Motion Carried.
