Eagles
perched atop WAC Southern Division
The
Duanesburg girls’ varsity volleyball team, led by senior
captains Hilary Berbach and Sarah Peacock, captured the Western
Athletic Conference (WAC) Southern Division championship this
year. The team had a record of 13-2.
The
“Wright” stuff
With
a total of 136 goals, girls’ soccer forward Nha Wright became
Duanesburg’s all-time leading scorer. Wright scored 33 goals
this year smashing the previous record of 106 goals held by Amanda
Traver.
Speaking
of soccer…
Duanesburg’s
boys’ varsity soccer team reached the sectionals before
suffering a close defeat (2-1) to eventual league champions,
Waterford. Congratulations on a good season!
Cross
Country Teams run away with titles
The
boys’ cross country team won the WAC Southern Division dual meet
championship this year. During the year, they captured the Burnt
Hills Invitational, and finished second in the sectionals. Cross
country team member Jon Csontos, pictured right, finished in first
place in the Class D sectional individual race, which qualified
him for the state meet in Queensbury on Nov. 12.
Meanwhile
the girls’ cross-country team also had a successful year winning
the WAC Southern Division dual meet championship and the WAC
league championship. During the year, the girls took first place
in the Grout Run, the Blackbird Invitational, and the Cobleskill
Invitational as well as capturing second place in the sectionals.
Two of the team’s runners, Ashley Jackman and Natasha Degiule,
above, qualified for the state meet in Queensbury on Nov. 12.
