Several Duanesburg students participated in a 5K Run for Darfur held at Vale Park in Schenectady on Sunday, April 27. Proceeds from the race went to the International Rescue Committee, a non-profit organization helping victims of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan.

"It was great to see our athletes dedicate their energies to a worthy cause," said social studies teacher Karen Kanarkiewicz.

In addition to the runners, Duanesburg High School senior Nick Schiavone's band, Citizen Genet, provided live music and donated one dollar from each CD sale to the cause.
